REVIEW | Spectrum Collections, The Glam Clam

Look at this stuff, isn’t it neat? Wouldn’t you think my collection’s complete?
It’s no secret that I’m a little bit obsessed with mermaids, so when I first set eyes on Spectrum Collections’ Glam Clam, I fell in love instantly and was obsessed with getting one for myself. And I mean crazy, Fatal Attraction type obsessed, to the point that I genuinely bombarded family members and my boyfriend with emails whenever it was in stock, in the hope that one of them would get me it for my birthday. All my craziness paid off when I got this mermaid DREAM for my birthday last year (thanks, bf) and I have loved it (again, in a slightly creepy and obsessive fashion) every moment since. It’s an adorably chic, lilac, clam shell case, beautifully crafted from faux leather that holds 10 stunning vegan makeup brushes. The colour combination oozes mermaid magic, whilst the high quality of the brushes themselves ensures their effectiveness. The set has been designed to house all the essentials for creating faultless face, lip and eye makeup looks. The clutch shell is ideal for keeping the brushes protected, cute and travel safe. They’re just what every merbabe needs! In the set, you get the following brushes:

B01 – Flat Top Buffer (great for blending bronzers and contour products)
A01 – Large Domed Powder (it’s SO FLUFFY!)
A05 – Precision Blush (I like this for applying highlighters, too)
B03 – Buffing Concealer (blends concealers like an absolute dream)
A06  Large Fluffy Shader (ideal for blending eyeshadows seamlessly)
B06 – Tall Tapered Blender (versatile AF)
B04 – Small Angled Blender (I love using this to blend darker eyeshadows across the crease of my lid)
A17 – Angled Brow (pretty and precise)
A15 – Lip Liner (I don’t use this for my lip liner, I use it for powdered eyeliners and it works wonders)
A19 – Angled Eyeliner (you can never have too many eyeliner helpers!)

I’ve got nothing but good things to say about this wonderful creation. Ariel herself would be swimming in joyous loop-the-loops at the mere sight of it!

Why Spectrum?

All of Spectrum’s brushes are 100% cruelty free and vegan; their bristles are made from super soft synthetic hair to create makeup tools that are not only heavenly in appearance, but ethically sound, too. You can create any makeup look your heart desires, safe in the knowledge that no animals have had to suffer in the name of beauty. This fact alone makes Spectrum Collections a standout company and a force to be reckoned with. I utterly adore them for their commitment to animal safety and hope other companies follow their example. All beauty should be without cruelty.

If that weren’t enough, there’s a huge range of cute colour combinations and reasonably priced brush sets, so you’re bound to find something that takes your fancy. The Glam Clam is £59.99, which sounds expensive, but considering you get 10 divine brushes and the clutch case, it’s really more of an investment. All of their brushes and accessories are uber cute and once you’ve started purchasing, it’ll be difficult to stop. Trust me, I’m speaking from experience – they only have to send me a tempting email and I’m lost in an internet shopping hole, scrolling through brush after brush and willing my bank balance to expand just so I can buy even more! They’re my go-to company for makeup brushes (plus other equally mer-mazing accessories) and I cannot recommend them highly enough.

So, what are you waiting for? Treat yourself to the Glam Clam (or bombard your nearest and dearest with photos and links and not-so-subtle hints) and let all your mermaid dreams come true!

Jess XO
