My First One

Your first blog post is pretty monumental. There’s a certain subconscious pressure that seeps in, a nagging little voice shrilly, and relentlessly, declaring, “This better be good!” So what do you do with your first one? Do you bang on about yourself and all that you hope to achieve? Do you just go straight for it with a post that’s going to be pretty similar in style and content to those you intend to write for the foreseeable future? Are you meant to acknowledge that you don’t actually know what the hell you’re doing, or is that some kind of blogging faux pas? Because, to be perfectly frank, I love to write and I’m incredibly passionate about cruelty-free beauty products and books, and that was the main goal of starting this little ol’ blog; to be able to write about those very things. But I don’t know what I’m doing. I was a tad naive about this entire thing and I had envisioned a sleek, swanky and pretty website with all these clear, easy to navigate, categories where I could regularly delight at my own organisational (fussy? Obsessive?) skills. So far, this is not the case. I don’t know how to categorise my blog posts underneath headings and subheadings and I’m getting rather peeved by own lack of computer know-how. How did these blogging superstars get started? How on earth are all their blogs so beautiful and clear? What in the world am I doing? How did they know what to write for their first post?

I guess I’m still figuring everything out. I know what I want to achieve from this blog. I’m too Monica Gellar to not know how I’d like it to be ordered, but I’m giving it a good go. I have a full time job that is draining my soul on a daily basis (grim) and this blog is going to be my creative outlet. Creativity feeds the soul and this is going to be my junk food. I hope you like what you read here and that you share my passion for beauty and books. Let’s see how this thing turns out…

    1. Thank you so much, that’s so sweet of you to say. It does make you so nervous! I’ve still not got it looking exactly as I’d like yet, but it’ll all come with time. Well done on posting yours, I’ll definitely have a read! XO
